Back to School and Back to Work

Back to School and Back to Work

For those of us with young families, we are probably looking forward to getting the kids back to school. Or not. There is still some stress involved in figuring out school schedules, bus schedules, work schedules, baby sitters, new schools, new jobs, you name it, you may be filling a little overwhelmed right now. Do remember that there are others in your shoes too.

The key is to take advantage of the resources that you have. Don't feel bad about asking for help, that is what families and friends are for. Don't feel bad about asking to come in late to work because you would like to drop your child off at his/her first day at Kindergarten. Don't feel bad about asking for an hour or two to go see the doctor, because this is the only time you have had in the last 3 months to take care of yourself.

For those of you who do not have much on your plate, extend a helping hand to your family members and friends. To the single mother or father in your neighborhood. Even moving their garbage to the street on collection day is worth so much, you have no idea.

Remember, when you stop and take a moment to take care of yourself, the people around you benefit from a calm, mindful, gentle, positive and happy person. People want to be around you. They also want to help you.

As you enjoy your last days of vacation or time off, think of what you can do or how you can help yourself to reduce the stress around you. Sometimes it  may be just to look at it from a positive perspective and omit the negativity.

At The Qi Spot, we are excited to work with you this Fall to start your new routines and help you just relax even if it is just one hour a week. Make your appointments now.

The MINI FAST

The MINI FAST

Intermittent fasting is a great way to lose excess weight, detox and clear your mind.

What this entails is that you do not eat food after 7pm at night. Then when you wake up, you actually skip breakfast and push off lunch until 2.

This will allow you to 'fast' for a total of 19 hours. Do this 3 times a week and you will notice a significant decrease in your weight.

Check in with your primary care doctor if you have any health issues that may be affected by the mini fast, such as low or high blood sugar levels.

Make sure to eat healthy foods during your 5 hour eating period. Feel free to eat plenty of food during this time.

This mini fast will also help you sleep, because your body won't need to digest food while it's also trying to rest.

Try it for 3-4 weeks and see how you feel. On top of feeling great, you will also save time and money.  Again, please make sure to eat a lot of healthy food during your eating period, and stay on your Chinese herbs and acupuncture to keep you balanced.

"ONCE A MONTH PLAN"

"ONCE A MONTH PLAN"

A very popular treatment plan in China is the 'once a month' plan. What it entails is that once a month, you come in for a checkup with Dr. Wade. He will check your pulse, tongue, symptoms, run an EKG on your heart, check your temperature and check your blood pressure. Based on this information, he will prescribe a bottle of Chinese herbs and give you an acupuncture treatment.

This is not a treatment plan for acute or chronic conditions, but rather a preventative/maintenance plan for those that feel good and/or have completed a full treatment plan in the past and need to bridge the gap between insurance coverages that renew the following year.

It is a great way for Dr. Wade to monitor your health every month and tweak it if necessary, in the direction of balance.

It is a time and money efficient way to keep up with your health naturally.

We require a one-year commitment for the discounted rate.

The rate per month is $75 for checkup, diagnosis and acupuncture treatment. You may also include an herbal formula for $30 extra. This is limited to 4 visits at the $75 rate, and $90 for anything more than that. The herbal consultation is free with the monthly plan. (Normal price would be $90/acupuncture plus $30/herbal consultation plus $30/herbal formula = $150).

Did you know that 50% of our patients are for PAIN and 50% come in for CHRONIC ILLNESS?

Did you know that 50% of our patients are for PAIN and 50% come in for CHRONIC ILLNESS?

PAIN

Treating pain is a very straight forward process. If it's chronic pain such as low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, etc. then we have a system to treat it.

The doctor will first ask you to very specifically show where the pain is and if it travels.
Next, the doctor will find an area on another part of the body, that most likely will be sore by touch.
Then the doctor will put needles into a few different areas (away from the site of injury) based on observation.
The final step is that the patient will move the injured area to try to illicit the pain.

In 95% of the cases we see, the pain will be significantly reduced immediately. All that's left is to lay on the table and relax for 30 minutes. That's it. And your chronic pain is gone.

The nervous system has a memory. The pain is a memory. So after the first 24 hours, even if the pain has completely gone away from treatment, it will come back. The second treatment, the pain will go away for 3 days. The third treatment it will go away for a week.

Ultimately, we see our patients 2 x week for 8 weeks to keep pain away long term (1 year - indefinitely).

We have an incredibly high success rate. If you can commit to 2 hours a week for 2 months, your chronic pain can be gone by Christmas.

CHRONIC ILLNESS

While treating pain is pretty straight forward, with instant results, chronic illness is much more of a process.

First we will have you fill out extensive information in our 'in-depth' health history forms.
Next, we will ask you detailed questions based on your answers.
Finally we will look at your tongue and pulse. All of this gives us a picture of imbalances in your body that are contributing or causing your chronic condition.

Once we've established the pattern, we put together a treatment plan that is specific to you. Usually it's 2 x week for 10-12 weeks, depending on the severity of the condition.

We also include an herbal consultation, so that we are doing both acupuncture and Chinese herbs at the same time. This exponentially speeds up the healing process.

When you start feeling the results of the treatments, it's based on the root cause of the problem being balanced. Usually your chronic illness is a symptom of a root cause being out of balance. So once it's fixed, the symptoms go away.

Get in for an appointment if you have chronic pain or a chronic illness.

Chinese medicine is the most powerful medicine on the planet for pain and chronic health conditions.

Warmly,

Dr. Wade McCulloch

Are you being taken advantage of by your Healthcare provider?

Are you being taken advantage of by your Healthcare provider?

I was recently shown a bill by a patient that came in to see me that was in pain. She went to a lot of different therapists and no one could help her. So she was desperate. She ended up at her chiropractors office, and they told her they could resolve her pain if she paid for a 'program' that included

  • stem cell therapy

  • chiropractic

  • acupuncture

  • laser therapy

The total cost = $8560

The reason she came to see me was because she was still in pain. Even if it had worked, it was a lot of money to spend. But she paid it, because she was in pain and was desperate.

I put her on my 2 x week for 8 weeks plan and within the first appointment, her pain was 80% reduced.

Because she didn't have insurance, the cost out of pocket for her to come to see me was $1400 (for 16 visits). Most of my patients have insurance that cover acupuncture, and pay less than $300 for a complete treatment plan.

I'm writing you this personal note because the acupuncture I do works. It gets rid of pain instantly and over time, it gets rid of pain for good. I'm not going to add on a bunch of other services that I charge you extra for. If you're doing acupuncture correctly, it should work. There's no need for a list of other modalities, unless of course, your not doing the acupuncture correctly.

This email isn't to say you shouldn't try other modalities. It's to save you some time and money. The style I practice is unique, effective and affordable. My plea is that you start coming in to see me first for the pain. We will know within the first treatment if I can get rid of your pain.

In my opinion, In this case, my patient was being taken advantage of. I see this a lot in the medical field.

Every week I get at least a dozen patients that have been to every doctor in town to get relief. They have spent all of their money and they are desperate. They have no idea where to go because everyone is promising them pain relief and very few deliver.

If only they had come to see me first, they would have saved time and thousands of dollars. They would have had pain relief months and years ago. It's a big deal.

Please tell any of your family or friends in pain that you know, to contact my office. Most likely they are looking at other modalities that cost 10x what I charge, and with questionable results.

I'm sorry I have to be so blunt, but I just can't stand by and watch my patients be taken advantage of anymore. The medicine I practice is powerful, inexpensive compared to other modalities and it works. I hope to see you, your family and your friends soon.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wade McCulloch

Chronic illness

Americans are suffering chronic pain and poor health despite spending more on healthcare than any other nation. Almost every American has multiple health problems that decrease their quality of life and drain their bank accounts. And they’re mistakenly looking to specialists to treat them each individually. Health issues like asthma, hay fever, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, periodontitis, Alzheimer’s and some cancers are now known to be caused — and made worse — by chronic systemic inflammation.

Chinese medicine has a saying that sums up the issue: “One cause, many diseases.” In other words, it is a single condition within the body that creates an internal environment ripe for pain, illness and disease to take hold, fester and become chronic. For many of the most pressing health concerns, that underlying condition is chronic low-grade inflammation, and it’s brought on by a diet extremely high in processed foods, foods soaked in herbicides and pesticides, drinks made from chemicals and the inability to manage daily stresses that dog the rich and poor, alike.

Signs, symptoms, conditions and diseases associated with inflammation include:

Acid Reflux — Acne — Arthritis — Asthma — Autoimmune Disorders — Bronchitis — Cancer — Candidiasis -Diabetes — Fatigue — Fever — Gout — Headache — Heart Disease — High Blood Pressure — Infections — Join Pain — Neuropathy — Osteoporosis — Psoriasis — Sciatica — Stiffness — Swelling — Urinary tract infections

HOW CHINESE MEDICINE CAN HELP

Acupuncture calms the nerves. As physicians of Chinese medicine, we will target specific organs in the body with out treatment. Every treatment has an overall nerve calming effect. Inflammation is a nervous system that has been taxed too much. The symptoms most people experience with inflammation will go away once the root cause is found. Most of the time it's food, but sometimes it's origin is an out of balance organ due to a variety of factors. We also incorporate Chinese herbs into the treatment to speed up the results. The herbs can increase your blood and yin (body fluids). This acts like water on fire. The nervous system is the fire. By reducing the fire with acupuncture and increasing the blood and body fluids to sedate the fire, we can create long term positive health benefits.

The end result is a body that is balanced, healthy and happy.

As a practitioner of medicine, I have had access to thousands of articles and ideas on the perfect diet. So I am going to give you what I consume weekly for inflammation and balance. If you have a few different areas of pain, nothing is better than acupuncture. However, if you, like me, have pain in too many places to count (due to sports injuries, age, chronic disease, etc), then the best way to get rid of pain is to reduce inflammation. I have found the following to be very helpful.

ANTI INFLAMMATION HABITS

1. DR. WADE'S Summer Smoothie (3 mornings a week for breakfast)

  • organic spinach

  • organic soy milk

  • Pomegranate juice

  • frozen organic blueberries

  • ice cubes

  • Garden of Life Organic Green mix

  • Large Tablespoon of coconut oil.

2. Vitamins and Minerals

  • I do a very simple pack of combined vitamins and minerals from Standard Process.

3. Hot Yoga

  • Yoga in general is paramount to health. Stretching creates blood flow through tight muscles and large joints. Lack of proper blood flow promotes inflammation and pain. In my experience, Bikram has been designed to move not only blood, but also benefit the endocrine system. I have found it extremely helpful for overall pain from inflammation.

4. Meditation

  • Most meditation will reduce stress, calm your nervous system and reduce inflammation. Being overwhelmed with thought will cause the nervous system to be to 'buzzy'. This is inflammation. By stopping the mind and focusing on 'no thought', you stop the buzz and reduce inflammation.

5. Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs

  • Acupuncture calms the fire (nerves) and the herbs sedate the fire by building the yin (fluids in the body that balance the fire)

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are the most powerful medicine on the planet (outside of diet and exercise)

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are the most powerful medicine on the planet (outside of diet and exercise)

It has come to my attention that most Americans have no idea of the power of Chinese medicine. It starts with education on WHAT it can treat and HOW it works.

Below is Chinese medicine 101

The difference between Western and Eastern Medicine is that Western medicine is generally trying to get rid of your SYMPTOMS. About 90% of what your doctor prescribes daily comes down to just SEVEN drug categories. Anti-inflammatory (steroids/NSAIDS), Anti-biotics, Anti-depressants, Statins for high cholesterol, ACE inhibitors/Channel blockers for high blood pressure, Levothyroxine for thyroid, and Metformine for diabetes.

These, and most other drugs you see advertised on television are all intended to cover up your symptoms. But what about the cause of the headaches?  The PMS? The hyperthyroid, the high cholesterol or the high blood pressure?

This is where Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are profoundly powerful. Chinese medicine, which include acupuncture and herbs treat the ROOT cause of all of your symptoms. In essence creating a balance and a true "health and wellness" that your body and mind can THRIVE in.

#1 The Diagnosis. We take into account a sophisticated formula to find out exactly WHAT is the ROOT cause of your symptoms.

  • Pulses: By taking your pulses (9 on each wrist for a total of 18) we can feel for irregularities in all of your organs and bodily systems.

  • Tongue: The tongue is a map of the entire body. When I had heart problems from emotional trauma in the past, the area on my tongue that represents the heart was actually bleeding. We can assess the health of the entire body through the tongues coating, color, shape and irregularities on certain spots of the tongue.

  • Symptoms: Your symptoms are a large clue as to what is out of balance in the body. We are skilled enough to form a pattern based on your symptoms alone.

  • In depth intake form: This is the form we have you fill out that tells us everything we need to know to formulate a clear picture and pattern. From the color of your menstural cycle, to frequent nightmares. These questions let us focus in on your diagnosis.

Once we have the 4 diagnostic tools above, we can start to get a very clear picture of what is out of balance in your body. In essence we discover the ROOT cause of your symptoms. Once we heal and balance the ROOT cause, the symptoms go away.

#2 The Treatment.

  • Acupuncture. (when done correctly), does two things.

We target the organs or muscles or tendons that are injured or diseased. By placing the needles in specific places on the body, we manipulate the nervous system and the brain, into bringing balance back into the organs. Again, we know where to put the needles based on the formula we use, once we've made a diagnosis of the ROOT imbalance in the body.
One of the pleasant side effect of Acupuncture, is that we are specifically targeting organs or systems in the body with your treatment, we are also calming your nervous system. This is something that Americans need more than ever with the constant buzz of electronics, multi-tasking, children and stress. The nervous system can only take so much before it starts to malfunction. Acupuncture calms the over taxed nervous system.

  • Chinese herbs.

We target the organs that are diseased and imbalanced. We make each formula up specficially for each individual. We will have 20 different formulas for 20 people with migraines for example. This is different than Western medicine that gives 20 people with migraines ONE drug. Each herb in the formulas acts specifically on the organ out of balance. If the organ needs to warm up, there will be hot herbs. If it needs to cool down, there will be cold herbs. If we need to move blood or energy, then we can do that as well. We manipulate the organs to bring them back into balance.

Combined, the Acupuncture and Chinese herbal both tonify the body and sedate the over taxed nervous system. They also work on targeting specific organs that are out of balance, bringing the body into balance and eliminating the symptoms.

Please consider making Chinese medicine your primary resource for health and wellness. We see profound results daily, and yes, we can treat what ever it is that is ailing you. You have the power to live a higher quality of life. You just need to make the change, commit and take the next step.

6 things you can do right now to be healthier, have more mental clarity and live longer

6 things you can do right now to be healthier, have more mental clarity and live longer.

  1. Start getting balanced once a month with Acupuncture AND herbs. Being balanced is how we stay healthy. Wade can read your pulse, list your health issues, and bring you back into balance. With at least one treatment PLUS some Chinese Herbs, you can become a more balanced body.

  2. Start doing yoga. You don’t have to go to an expensive Studio. Just buy a CD for $10, or stream it over the internet or your cable TV. Start doing at least 20 minutes of stretching a day. It gets your energy unstuck and flowing, to maintain balance.

  3. Cut way down on your dairy intake. To about a half cup of milk a day. Or a small slice of cheese, or a half cup of yogurt. Total. Per day. If you can, cut it out completely. Dairy products are like Elmer’s Glue to your energy. They gunk it up. They make it sticky and they make it concentrate. Concentrated energy equals matter. And not the good matter, but the kind that creates tumors, fibroids and cysts.

  4. Start meditating. Meditation calms the mind. A calm mind calms the nervous system. A calm nervous system allows energy to flow freely through your body. Allowing balance and health. The mind can stagnate and disrupt energy (qi) flow.

  5. Cut down on your bread intake. Start eating more rice (white or wheat). Eat more vegetable and fruit. Stop eating so much bread, cereal, cake, bagels, tortilla’s, etc.  The American diet consists mainly of Bread, Dairy and Sugar. This is the exact opposite of what you should eat. Look at most indigenous tribal foods. These are the healthiest for our bodies.

  6. Get some cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times a week. This means getting your pulse up to a rapid rate, and keeping it there for at least a half an hour. This moves energy through your body, promotes and increased new energy, and clears out blocked and stagnant energy. It also moves oxygenated blood throughout the cells of the body.

What will happen if you implement these 6 things is that your body will start to lean up. It will become lighter and a lot of your health problems, including aches and pains will start to disappear. Your mind will also become clearer. When the energy in your body become pure and flowing, it directly relates to mental clarity. When you meditate, you let go of a lot of the ‘noise’ in your mind, so the few thoughts you do have, become crystal clear.
